Some answers on "Green, Blue, Black"
After finally getting our hands on the members questions from last months Council meeting it would like there were only 7,162 properties which did not have there bins emptied because they contained the wrong sort of rubbish in them. But that's not all, as there were also "2,000 green bins, 600 black bags and 400 nappies not collected in error." So at least now we know. These figures were just for the first week of the new rubbish collection plans. So who knows what it is up to now.
If anyone had problems getting though to Cleansweep to complain about the uncollected nappies smelling we the reason would be that there were over 20,665 calls to Cleansweep in January, Decembers was 7,306 for the whole month. So it looks like they were busy.
From what we've heard the only only thing of interest was the presentation by the NHS of the new service (cuts), that are being made to the hospitals that Greenwich people use.
Apparently the only thing of amusement was the Dynamic Duo attempting to justify the motion about nappies, or should that be motions in nappies? Either way one of the Councillors apparently asked them if they would like to collect their child's used nappies, as a sort of Lib Dem trial, to show everyone how it would work, before the Council took a proper decision on it. Well perhaps they wouldn't leave 400 nappy bags uncollected?

The Black bin bags on my road have not been collected since this new scheme came in.
28th Jan - missed
11th Feb missed.
That's 4 weeks of rubbish!
I have phoned many times (average of 20 mins wait) and yesterday was told to "hope" someone collects the rubbish. I have been told twice that the binmen will come in 24/48 hours. No one came - yet the wheelie bins have been taken.
And still the rubbish sits. Such incompetency.
in the same boat in Woolwich- no collection of food waste for over three weeks
Has anyone heard this one - I talked to the duo collecting the food waste last week and they told me if your green bin was inside your gate and not outside on the sidewalk they were not allowed to collect it as they were told it was trespassing and they would "get done" for it.
Hence 2 weeks w/o any food waste collection inspite of numerous calls.
I thought we weren't supposed to put our bins on the sidewalk?
Who is running this place?
With regard to who is runnung this place, i think it is the alternative to the three wise monkeys, they do not see the streets full of rubbish and bins, they say nothing about all the extra manpower and cost, and they never listen when you complain. The only weapon i have is my vote and i have tried for years to get rid of this lot, and before someone tells me they are all the same, how do you know if you have never tried them.
Having lived in Greenwich for the last fifteen years and voted against the incompetent idiots who run this borough whenever possible, I have come to the conclusion that my vote doesn't count. I have given up. I honestly believe people will still continue to vote labour even when the streets are 6ft deep in rubbish, the traffic is at a permanent standstill, and every shop in East Greenwich is empty. And why? Because they've always voted labour or can't be bothered to get off their fat arses and vote.
No, your vote does not count.
The only thing worse than Greenwich Nu Labour is Greenwich Olde Tories. Their ultimate political nightmare is not Premier Galloway and President Scargill, but waking up one morning and finding themselves responsible for running Greenwich. They have spent their lives turning up at the council AGM and complaining about not getting a turn at being Mayor and then doing nothing for the rest of the year.
The last people to actively oppose Labour machine politics in Greenwich were the Valley Party.
Labour get in every time not because of voter apathy but because no other party is remotely interested in running Greenwich.
Does anyone know if a legal challenge can be bought against the council over this? We pay a massive amount of council tax and with any other kind of service you'd expect a refund for breach of contract.
In Charlton last time more people voted against Labour than for. The problem is that the opposition is split pretty equally between Conservative, Lib Dem and Green. And part of that problem is that the Tories and Lib Dems don't campaign around here. I only ever get a leaflet from the Greens.
Whats the use if we can get a self elected president running the country, a Mayor for London that gets in on a new voting system (add the first choice to the second choice ) or some such crazy system, its time that the voting in this country was updated then perhaps we would not be run by the minority.
